Image of Worship of Mountain Gods
Acknowledging Shuniang
Since ancient times, mushroom farmers have
worshipped mountain gods, recognizing a tree as
a mother for their children’s healthy growth. They
also visit the Xiyang Temple to worship Wu
Sangong before shiitake cultivation.
Vows to god & Blessings
A custom of redeeming vows involves carrying the
shiitake god to the ancestral house during
festivals. This allows the god, Gushen, or the
incense burner to ‘watch’ the Gumin Opera
performed by shiitake farmers.
Greeting God Temple Fair
The Temple Fair is a vibrant community event
where locals gather to honor the gods, participate
in traditional rituals, and celebrate their shared
cultural heritage amidst the natural landscape.
