In May 2013, Oita Prefecture, Kunisaki Peninsula, Usa Region (Bungotakata City, Kitsuki City, Usa City, Kunisaki City, Himeshima Village, Hiji Town) was recognized as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.

China
In November 2022, Qingyuan has become one of the Globally Important Agricultural Heritage.
The heritage site is located in 13 administrative villages and one state-owned forest farm in three townships, including Songyuan Street, Baishanzu Town and Wudabao Township, Qingyuan County, with a total area of 14,117.43 hectares. It is the birthplace of the world’s artificial cultivation technology of shiitake mushrooms.
